Nestled within walking distance to Melaka busy Jonker Street (15 minutes approximately), places of tourist attraction like Christ Church Melaka (400m), Dutch Square, Princess Hang Li Poh's Well (400m), A Famosa Fort, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, this 3-star hotel which is centrally located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site is set to charm you with its unique little details in its warm decor, super friendly staff, the most comfortable and relaxing "sweet bed" in your hotel room and so much more. Yes, we are talking about our recent stay at the lovely IBIS MELAKA HOTEL (here for more), a part of the already famous and established Accor Hotels brand worldwide. In fact, the name Ibis itself carries much weight for delivering ultimate comfort at a competitive price - economic for business and leisure.

There are in fact three variants of hotels under the flagship name IBIS, each being represented by a different sets of coloured logo. Ibis Hotel (red pillow logo) is one that offers ultimate comfort with great ambience - well-being at a great price. Ibis Styles Hotel (in green) provides comfort and designs, all inclusive. Last but not least, Ibis Budget Hotel (blue), essential comfort at a budget price. Discover more here. Over 2000 Ibis hotels around the world, we are absolutely certain one can be sure to find an Ibis hotel that suits one's travel needs, comfort level and budget requirement. In Malaysia, Ibis can be found in Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Ipoh, Sandakan. Ibis Melaka is their latest addition to the Ibis family. We were invited by the gracious host previously, so let us share with you now our little experience staying there.

Just opened for business for about 3 months, Ibis Melaka Hotel has 249 contemporary rooms with the exclusively designed Sweet Bed, a new innovative bedding by the Ibis team, 3 function rooms and 1 hall, a web corner, a restaurant, bar and fitness centre. The rooms include standard, family and suite. It was a hot afternoon when we arrived and the lovely Angie Hew, Director of Sales of Ibis  Hotel generously took the extra effort to drop by from KL and showed us around the vicinity.

Upon arriving at the lobby, one would be greeted by a spacious lobby area with the receptionist counter on the left, the Ibis Kitchen (restaurant) on the right and a sky motif ceiling which does have a calming effect upon the guests, we must say. What intrigued us more is the choice of wood based furniture, woodwork mix marble and decor of the hotel that made us feel oh-so-welcomed - a feeling of home away from home (only way better!) yet with that added chic modern touch to it, almost like visiting an interior designer's home. It elevates the whole stylish ambience of a hotel, we feel, without drawing unnecessary noisy attention from its quiet keen observers. One could sense that the owner and the Ibis Melaka team had put in much thought into how to make the space truly welcoming and an enjoyable one by paying attention to small little details. Perhaps this would be a well-travelled owner with an exquisite taste. We absolutely love the look and feel of the space already *_^

Having said that, we do love Ibis Melaka leaving that one little special corner for retaining the good old days. Before the hotel was erected, the space was once a popular old theatre where all the town folks gathered for that little classic movie entertainment, a cinema called Savoy during the 80s. A nostalgic feel swept through us when we saw an artist painting of the old cinema hung by the wall near the web corner where guests could surf the world wide web with ease, a corner to chill and rest, near the bar. The cafe bar is opened from 10:00am to 10:00pm, available for guests to order some drinks to quench their thirst. Welcoming drink is complimentary. The Ibis Melaka hotel even provides bicycle rental at MYR8.00 per hour, which does come in handy for those who would love to get around at ease and faster to visit any nearby locations.

Let's take a look at our room, shall we? Ibis Melaka has 82 units of Standard Queen, 146 units of Standard Twins (Single bed) and 15 units of Family With 1 Queen and 1 Single and 6 units of Suite Queen. The room is obviously decorated with accents of red, for instance the main feature on the wall, the cabinet, the chair, right down to the toiletries and cups. What we absolutely fall in love with our standard queen room is their Sweet Bed, It is specially designed to give the guest the best comfort. It is super soft to the touch, even gentle and more comfortable to your body and one will sure to have a great night sleep at the Ibis Melaka Hotel. We sure did, like a baby *_^

Family room

We have all we need for a stay in a hotel - clean, organised room, equipped with iron, clothe hangers, mini fridge and the rest. The intriguing part of the toilet is their touch screen light mirror which lights up to give one a better view perhaps when one does the makeup or have one's beard shaven for men, we imagined. Shower is strong, most to our liking, with rain shower type. Most definitely an enjoyable shower at the end of a tiring day of exploring the Melaka town. More on the types of room here.

The next day, we were invited to dine at the Ibis Kitchen for our lunch, which was specially prepared by the chef. An array of delicious dishes were served, one by one and we could hardly wait to dig in. We shall leave our gastronomic dining experience for our second parter to this Ibis Melaka post, in the near future. So, do check back here for more.

Overall, we truly enjoyed our relaxing stay at the brand new Ibis Melaka. We love the whole idea that a hotel embraces its brand culture and adhere at best to it, to give their guests the best comfort and experience staying with the Ibis brand. Exploring nearby Jonker Street and the little eatery and cafes added another flavour and depth to our visit to Melaka this time around. Great company, good food and an awesome stay, what more could a gal ask for, right?

We definitely would like to extend a huge thank you to Ibis Melaka Hotel for the great hospitality, excellent service and for playing host to LUMINNEJ. It has made our stay a rewarding and memorable one. Discover more about the hotel here.
