[Review] Herlovito | Clean and natural skincare made with love

We were first approached by Herlovito with their very first clean and natural skincare product - the Original Lip Balm. We love the fact that the brand's mission is to transition and move towards a cleaner way by producing beauty products that are free from harmful ingredients. It's definitely a philosophy that is commendable. We found the 100% vegan lip balm a lovely lip care product to have. Fresh from the tube, the edges might be a little sharp on the lips but after repeat use, the smooth gliding texture and the absence of fragrance made this one a keeper, leaving the pout feeling soft and protected. The brand name, Herlovito was inspired by the Spanish word "lobo", which represents love. That explains the no harmful chemicals, natural and sustainable ingredients and their eco-friendly uber simple packaging. 

Fast forward to 2021, the lovely people at Herlovito (here for more) came up with more beauty products, This time, it was their new Jojoba Hair Oil, Damask Rose Hydrating Mist and Tea Tree Blemish Serum. We felt the roll out of these new items were pretty timely. Let's take a look at them, shall we?

Jojoba Hair Oil (50ml at MYR75.50)

The one that caught our attention out of the three was the Jojoba Hair Oil. It comes in a nice clear and clean dropper bottle. It comprises a blend of oils like jojoba, coconut, rosemary and lavender to strengthen and promote hair growth. It is said to be able to heal damaged hair and strengthen fragile one. Further more, the oil has the ability to oil balance and hydrate the hair at the same tine. 

The texture is fairly lightweight. With just a few drops, the oil which is enriched with vitamin E and B glides onto the hair nicely and blends in and gets absorbs after some massages. It has a refreshing, with a very slight minty airy kind of smell. Definitely pleasant to use and leave the hair with a little sheen. Tea Tree Blemish Serum (10ml at MYR45.50)

We are blessed in a way that we never really had to deal with acne issue since puberty (and touch wood, no adult acne as well, except for the occasional pop of pimples due to hormonal fluctuation once in a blue moon, or due to the new norm of wearing the mask, phew!). Nonetheless, this small little bottle came in handy for our 18 year-old teenage son to give it a try instead as due to growing up hormonal reason (and lifestyle habits or late nights, etc.), he has been suffering from teenage acne issue for quite some time. 

This Tea Tree Blemish Serum comes in a small roller-ball bottle and is made up of various natural remedies like tea tree oil, peppermint oil, vitamin E, lavender and grapeseed to keep the skin smooth, clear and soft. We applied topically to areas of the face where we could see acne (which is practically almost the entire face, especially his forehead, cheeks, temples, chin and lower jaw). It has quite a strong scent due to the tea tree oil and of course, tingling sensation because of the peppermint oil. We did notice the application does help to calm down some acne but not all (especially the angrier and more inflamed ones). As for the effect of lightening the skin tone and scar, there was not much of an obvious effect in this area. Overall, the blemish serum may help with slightly milder acne issues or to curb them from getting worse. Damask Rose Hydrating Mist (100ml at MYR36.50)

Hot! Hot! Hot! Yes, the weather is super hot of late and Damask Rose Hydrating Mist came to our rescue. Gentle enough for daily use, this moisturising and hydrating face mist replenish our skin and keep it supple. It is also said to have a soothing and calming effect. Comes in a simple clear bottle, a few spritz of this mist will immediately cool our skin down and keep it hydrated. We love how natural smelling the mist is and revitalises the complexion.
