Travel | The Familiarity of The Unfamiliar That Is Hong Kong

Visuals via LUMINNEJ's Instagram

Remember when we said that we wish to do a little more travel? Stepping out more for 2016, making that thought on the last day of 2015, hoping and wishing here? In a strange way, the universe must have heard us *_^ We landed a very last minute shoot project (moi is a full time screenwriter/producer by the way, if you don't already know) and the place we needed to head to was this place we had a brief encounter with many years back - Hong Kong. We were due to shoot a short interview with this British band called The Vamps (here), which actually recorded the song, Kungfu Fighting for the renowned animated movie, Kungfu Panda 3 which will be hitting the theatre worldwide real soon. They also voiced some of the characters in the movie, if we were not mistaken.

Perhaps due to the last minute nature of the project, it was destined to be some what unexpected in many ways. Drama set in way before the shoot even began! We missed our flight that very early morning (NOOO... but unfortunately YES! Don't ask why for our hubby could not even fathom the rational behind this!), landed in Hong Kong two hours later then scheduled, though we managed to reach the shoot location way earlier than expected of us, and right before the shoot began, the sole of our sports shoes came right off! Can you believe that?

Fortunately, the interview with The Vamps went well and we got what the client wanted, all thanks to my capable camerawoman whom we have been working with for some time now. She was such a trooper (yeah, we were both under the weather that day, and we had to ran like Olympic runners, dashing for the last 100m to the boarding gate, the second time around to catch our flight to Hong Kong earlier that morning!).

Well, lesson learnt? WE NEED MORE TRAVELING TRIPS! haha *_^ The second day was a much calmer one, though it rained and we were just enjoying the extra cold weather of the city that time (right after the very first ever below zero climate in many years for Hong Kong), walking around this area called Tsuen Wan 荃灣, around the vicinity of the hotel that we were staying, Dorsett Tsuen Wan, small little hotel but comfortable enough to soothe our uber tired body at the end of the day. We managed to check out this quaint little place called Jockey Club, Tak Wah Park 賽馬會德華公園. Here for more

Traveling is such an amazing feeling, no matter how brief or rush it may seem, for us, it was like a rare treasure being uncovered. Hong Kong is a city which never cease to amaze us, yet it is still one that eludes us right up till this trip. We really wish to go back there again, but with more time and poise, to really get into the pulse of the city and explore beyond what we have captured here.

Till our next adventures, we wish that our next venture out of Malaysia will be a less heart pounding and stressful one *_^

With love,
Jeann

Spirited Away With Jo Malone London's Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne, With Incense & Embers Scented Candle

If I were a girl
The howling of the night wind gathers speed, brushing against the ruffles of my collar,
rubbing against my neck, it feels exhilarating, yet anxious in anticipation, as if,
something exciting is about to burst onto the night scene,
I don't particularly like adventures like this, as much as the boys, but then again,
who likes to be left out, right?

If I were a girl, perhaps I would be Anne, one of the "famous five" in an Enid Blyton's book. In a strange way, when we were first introduced to Jo Malone London's Wood Sage & Sea Salt, the scent brought us back to those days when we would bury ourselves in the endless adventures of these pages, traversing the unknown, the vast landscapes, imagining what life throws at us, through the skillful writings of this amazing woman author. Those were the days.

If I were a woman
The crushing wave that comes rushing towards us, gradually subsides and by the time it reaches our feet, it washes away the fatigue that envelopes our mind, like how the sea water cleans away the sand between our toes, in such a soft yet effortless manner, making us fall in love with the fresh scent, again and again, each time we put it on. Other times, it does feel like the British weather, ever a little melancholic, but never dull. We believe, that is what fascinates us about this cologne. It evokes our imagination, our emotions towards a certain particular time and space, elevates us to those moments that equate to earthiness, freshness, yet very grounded in many ways. You make us feel ALIVE, in an extremely poetic state of mind. You sent us to a faraway land, one that calls for love, whispering into our ears to listen, and be ready to open our mind, and heart, to receive new things, new perspectives. Strangely, it reminds us of this movie, P.S. I Love You here.

[Live Streaming] Burberry Womenswear February 2016

Burberry is making some huge changes. The brand even came up with a short teaser video (here) entitled  "Under Construction" leading up to their upcoming Womenswear February 2016 show (hint, sequins?). Following the recent announcement of Burberry closing the gap between shows and streamlining them down from 4 shows to 2 annually is a move that CEO and Chief Creative, Christopher Bailey said, "The changes we are making will allow us to build a closer connection between the experience that we create with our runway shows and the moment when people can physically explore the collections for themselves" is quite an interesintg one. Seasonless, immediate and personal, the new format and calendar have been designed with a global audience in mind.

The show will mark the first time that Burberry presents its womenswear collection under the new 'Burberry' label on the runway. The new label unifies the previous Prorsum, London and Brit lines, in a move that has been designed to simplify the presentation of the brand's full product range. Award-winning British musician, Jake Bugg will be performing live for the show.

So, be sure to come back here and watch it LIVE with us, this coming 22nd January, 2016 at 9:00pm (Malaysian time, 1:00pm London time). We are extremely honored to be able to bring this show LIVE to you, once again, thanks to the love and support shown by Burberry to LUMINNEJ.

See you again this coming Monday night then, lovelies and have a great weekend ahead *_^

With love,
Jeann

My Valentine 2016

The V day seems illusive but in fact it is as simple as petals of pink roses, beautiful as they may be, but reality sets in when it is their time to fade away, to announce the departure of their mere short existence on earth, that is to please the suitor, to entertain the admirer, to soothe the heart that is broken beyond repair, the hopeless soul.

The only one thing that we shall not let go, perhaps, would be our undying love for the pursuit of beauty in life, for we only live once. We should make this once in a life time journey a beautiful and meaningful one then, shall we?

Happy Valentine's Day 2016, lovelies, today and every other day of our lives.

[Review] L'Occitane Immortelle 28 Day Divine Renewal Program

Some time last quarter of 2015, we had the pleasure to be invited to L'Occitane and Melvita luncheon (here) and were introduced to their new addition to the L'Occitane Divine anti-ageing face care collection created in 2009, the 28 Day Divine Renewal Program, a skin detox regime that harnesses the power of the rare yellow flower, Immortelle, harvested from Corsica, and specially created to work in tune with skin's natural renewal cycle. We were immediately intrigued by that whole notion and concept, one that embraces natural approach to achieving beautiful, renewed and youthful skin, one that L'Occitane as a French brand is extremely proud of, and one we have come to appreciate.

[Inspiration | Musing] Forever Searching & Feeling

No matter how much we have tried, ever so desperately, we fail to cease to feel, cease to be indulge, in our desperate attempt to understand, to comprehend something which in life that bears no name, no specific shape or form. Perhaps our overly active mind should take a back seat, and settle down slow and easy. Perhaps that would be best for both us and the world...

But then again, we are only human. Feeling is perhaps a form of announcing to the world (not that it matters eventually) that you are still alive, you need to do more than just staying alive, a cold reminder, for ourselves.

Think a little further, we come to the realization that one only matters to those who love you deeply, those who truly cherish you as a significant person to him/her, in their lives. If one has not left a legacy behind, one merely is a spec of dust in the entire huge universe of existence, quite insignificant and meaningless to the world. One is important yet one is totally not, at the same time. Having come to this revelation, should we then go all out to conquer the world and make a mark for the sake of just leaving a legacy behind, or one just take on one's own fight, to create a dent in one's own life?

We believe, the one quest that we have always been relentless pursuing and continue to search for is the answer to these very questions - what is the true meaning of our existence? What is our purpose in this life, this one lifetime that we only get to have, to live, as a human being? That is, most probably, the one thing that we sought which has no name, a voice that is so nice to even be heard by the universe, a unique voice that could only belong to us *_^

We feel, we are still a work in progress, even up till this stage in our life. Have you figured out yours yet, lovelies?

Green Tomato Cafe | A Garden Style Dining Experience

Tugged away in the hustle bustle of KL city is this quaint Al Fresco style cafe that aims to promote healthy yet hearthy homemade style eating, with a twist, we must say and this garden style cafe we are talking about is none other than Green Tomato Cafe. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, our little family arrived at the Green Tomato Cafe, and we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and bubbly cafe owner, Emilia Tan. She quickly recommended us to try out some of their signature dishes and beverages, and that was how our gastronomical journey for the day began, amidst the cosy rustic open environment, under the sunny weather of KL.

Green Tomato Cafe is not only a cafe serving up delicious breakfast and lunch, it is a location where you will find Green Tomato Cafe, MyBatik Souvenir Shop and MyBatik Workshop, situated all in one big vicinity of lush green environment near Ampang area. We shall talk more about that later. First up, we had a boost to our morning by starting off with their 100% freshly squeezed and blended juices of carrot, ice lemon tea and their signature Healthy Green Detox juice (green apple, cucumber and celery). They were such a thirst quencher and super refreshing, to say the least. All juices are priced at MYR12 each.

While we roamed around to check out the area, dotted with eye-catching quotes for life lessons amongst the greenery and popped by at the batik workshop just a stone throw away to snap some pictures, our brunch were served. All dishes are served with specially wrapped utensils in handprinted batik (locally made and designed), to add to that local flavour. First on the menu was Green Tomato Cafe's famous Egg Benedict.
