[Review] M.A.C August Picks | Creamsheen & Matte Lips With Veluxe À Trois Eyes Plus Upward Lashes

August whisked by like the gushing wind of summer, precipitously, not realizing that today is the end of it all, for us that is. While we are trying desperately to hold onto what's left, today is a special day - our nation's Independence Day, the 58th to be exact. Here we are, hoping to share with you some of our August favorites from M.A.C Cosmetics, which is long overdue by now. It just slipped our mind but managed to eventually find their way back here (luckily *_^). Hope this is still not too late for you to enjoy, or perhaps drop by to the stores to explore more yourselves. We shall get right on with it, shall we?

Bobbi Brown For KLFW 2015 Makeup: The Orange Accent (Part 1)

Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2015 (KLFW2015) this year was super fun because we  not only got invited to some of the shows by local designer friends, but we also got an exclusive backstage pass to take a sneak peek at how the makeup sponsor, Bobbi Brown did the makeup for all the models who walked the catwalks for the designers, all thanks to the kind arrangement of our friends at Bobbi Brown Malaysia. It was a Saturday morning but we chose to show you the afternoon session makeup first, to kick start this little series as we loved the makeup looks designed for the shows.

Third year being the makeup main sponsor for KLFW, Bobbi Brown is a makeup brand that is no stranger to anyone who loves makeup and embraces the powerful makeup in you, to enhance your natural beauty. What we loved about this look was that little orange accent under the eye, done not with any eyeliner gel or eye makeup product per se, but rather with the creative use of a lipstick (Art Stick Hot Orange), the eyelids were done with a taupe colour and the overall look was a natural one. The face was kept nude to allow the orange tint to shine through. Very refreshing, we felt, with a sense of adventure and fun to it. Uber cool. We also had a quick chat with Felix Nguyen, the Education Manager for Bobbi Brown (Asia Pacific), who shared with us some of the tips and tricks and main products that were used to create or enhance the looks during the KLFW2015. We shall share more with you in our future blog posts, all right *_^

[Inspiration] Feeling A Little Korean Kind Of Love

Perhaps it is post "just-finished-our-favourite-Korean-series" withdrawal syndrome kind of feeling, or maybe we do love these faces from that far away "dream factory" that is Korea, we are feeling like sharing with you some of our recent crushes from the Korean ad campaigns and fashion editorials. We find them really alluring in a horribly chic and modern way. Super love the styling and makeup done for them.

Talking about the Korean series, we meant the one called Oh My Ghotess. It's a little story which is quite enchanting and entertaining. We love the natural acting of the female lead, the young and adorable Park Bo-Young a lot. The charming Jo Jung-suk did a wonderful job playing opposite the bubbly, at times troubled Park. We thoroughly enjoyed the series. We shall not give away the storyline here. Have a listen to this number from Ben called Stay (one of the tracks from the soundtrack in Oh My Ghostess) while enjoying the visuals compiled here, specially for you.

M.A.C Autumn/Winter 2015 Trend Presentation With James Molloy

Super awesome to always be included in M.A.C Cosmetics' Trend Presentation for how to reinterpret makeup and making it all fresh and new are the things that have always intrigued the nuts out of us and we are delighted to be a part of this reveal, season after season. To begin this blog post, we would love to thank M.A.C Malaysia for having us there that very day *_^

Honing into what makeup is truly all about, we love the fact that this makeup trendsetter brand embraces the notion that Beauty Is Diversity for its Autumn/Winter 2015.  In the constant and evolving conversation of what defines beauty today, true makeup artistry broadens the propositions and opens our eyes to inspired options of how to celebrate beauty with makeup. This time around, M.A.C brought us James Molloy, the Director of Makeup Artistry of M.A.C Cosmetics to share what's trending in the fashion and beauty industry for the season. These include the four major trends - Beautiful and Damned, Strength of Beauty, Love Worn and Red 70s.

[Review] The Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum

We have always been a fan of green tea, Japanese green tea to be exact. These days, we drink a hot cup of green tea plus lemon grass before we head to bed. Green tea has been known for its anti-oxidant properties and health promoting qualities. Naturally, green tea infused skincare would be quite an appealing idea. We were delighted when we were presented by Innisfree Malaysia (here for more) to give one of their Green Tea skincare products a try some time back.

Famous for its pristine fresh air, natural greens and organic farming, Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum is supposedly a part of the brand's 5-free system: free from parabens, synthetic colorants, mineral oil, animal-originated ingredients and imdazolidinyl urea (read more about it here if you are curious). That sounds awesome. This serum is actually the first step to your skincare, after your facial cleansing. It has as high as 75.9% Jeju Island green tea extract. This is a moisturizing serum with the organic Jeju green tea water and green tea seeds to hydrate your skin from within and what's best is that it is 100% squeezed green tea. Rich in amino acids and minerals, this sounds like one product that your skin will thank you for *_^

[Inspiration | Musing] The Secrets of Truth

The secrets to life are those lies that lurk beneath the truth of human condition - the condition of the heart, the greatest victory but also human's most deadliest weakness. The affairs of the heart are the single path to our downfall as surviving species, and eventually reduce us to mere dust and little insignificant particles in the morning air after a heavy rain, I am convinced. I am part of this whole big picture of lies. More than 30 years of existence now, can I see myself as refined as one should be? A woman of substance or merely a living physique that the soul has decided to walk away?

Has my soul betrayed my heart of pure naivety?

Conflicts in myself has always been my biggest concern - living a life with mixed hopes, dreams and desires. Is there a definite way to make them return to me? Can I call them back one by one? Faint whispers evaporate into petals of withered tulips, the scent of fallen hopes is too intoxicating yet heartbreaking. My writing has never been this affected until I stumbled upon Wei Hui's style of expressing herself and her own sexuality. She revived my passion for words, my faith in the belief that words could heal the faintest heart ... or could it? I was there once - those lights, those nights scribbling under that familiar night light, at my table, in the darkest room of the loneliest heart. I was completely broken, tormented. My heart cried tears of crystal clear blood, but my spirit soared higher than my physique could carry me.

I believe that blissfulness was just .... there ... captured on paper and ink.

I have never felt so close to my existence before. Sorrow and sadness are proofs of being sane and totally alive. Complacency could only bear boredom ...

Shiseido Professional The Hair Care Fuente Forte Carbonated Head Spa Experience at Label S Signature Salon

We have to admit, we have not done a hair treatment or spa of any sorts before this, since we have always been having super short hair (only long hair requires such pampering or treatment and needed it more than us, at least that was what we thought), so we were equally surprised when we were approached by the renowned Scalp Care Expert brand for 100 years, Shiseido Professional Malaysia to take up a hair treatment pampering session recently. So, we thought, why not give it a try. It should fun, right?

So, the day arrived, we presented ourselves at this beautifully set up hair salon called Label S Signature at Ara Damansara. (here for more updates via their IG feeds) It was a cosy and inviting space, equipped with even a relaxed cafe style centre-piece table and coffee maker. Of course, the star products for the day were on display as well.

[Sneak Peek] KLFW2015 A Glimpse of The Beautiful Details

Carven Ong
Carven Ong

Yes, today was a hectic day, it was very early that we had to drag ourselves to the heart of the city, Pavilion KL for something which we love, but still shouldering that fatigue from our recent shoot two days before this (hence the word "drag"), otherwise, we were super excited to check out what's up our local Malaysian designers' sleeves for this year's Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2015.

Jimmy Lim
Jimmy Lim

After much photo taking at the backstage for the makeup by Bobbi Brown and hair by Miko, we were more than ready to check out some of the fashion designers shows which we were invited to - Freedom x Eric Choong, Eclipse by Sonny San, Celest Thoi and Jimmy Lim. Don't be fooled by just the four designers here, a session is usually made up of a combination of a few designers who will be showcasing their collections during the KLFW2015. So, lucky us, we got to catch more shows than we had hope for. Awesome right?

They included Carven Ong, Comoddity, Liza Azulkarnain, Nuritha Harith, Sean & Sheila, Soonaru, Syomirizwa Gupta, Zakwan Anuar and Australian invited designer, Saveus by Jarred Baker. Note all designers labels with clickable links. You can discover more of their brands if you are curious.

[Review] Lancôme Advanced Génifique: A Conversation With Youthful Aura

The Prelude
Lucid, lightness of being and as fluid as I am, I could feel your sense of curiosity in me, this time around, yet in a much more familiar way, but still wishing that perhaps I may be more, the moment I presented myself to you, that very evening.

The Arrival
I came with the presence of beautiful bouquet of white roses, permeating a scent of eloquent freshness in the air, which I felt it almost took your breath away. I may have come, this time around, with a slightly different box, but nonetheless, equally hypnotic and mysterious, in a dark shining suit. You will always be able to recognize me, instantaneously, by my rose petal stamp on the box and the silvery cap, with an exquisitely designed glass body that can only be appreciated if you are a lover of beauty like me. In fact, I have become an iconic symbol that I am often referred to as, The Little Black Bottleas you may have already know. Bonjour, I am the one and only Lancôme Advanced Génifique, the youth activating concentrate.

Taking It Easy With This Year's Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2015 (KLFW)

It is that time of the year again! Yes, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2015 (KLFW) will official kick start tomorrow, 12th August onwards till the 16th. We have the pleasure to be invited to a few of the designers' show. Shall keep you all posted more via our Instagram updates here, follow us if you have not already *_^ Perhaps some sneak peek of the latest pieces from the runway shows.

We know some of our blogger friends are busy preparing already, some load up on skincare regiment so that they will look radiant, others planning for their hair and makeup to be done. For us, guess it is more of getting our gears all ready (say what?! so not the glamourous, right?) as we will be shooting some backstage makeup action by the official makeup sponsor, Bobbi Brown Malaysia. Since will be up and about, wardrobe will have to be functional, minimalist and comfortable. Shall see how it goes. Perhaps a change of clothes for the evening shows, nothing elaborate.

We are also currently busy with a production shoot on this Thursday, luckily we get a one day rest on Friday and Saturday will be a long day for us at the KLFW2015. If you are curious, here for some of the features on last year's shows which we attended.

Stay calm, kick back and let's go to fashion week together, shall we? haha

Burberry Prorsum Menswear SS16: Strait-Laced

Be bold, be masculine, be strait-laced with Burberry Prorsum Menswear this coming Spring/Summer 2016 season? Is that your thing, men out there? Now, how does one define a Burberry man? Is he the classic type that goes for the precisely cut jacket and pants? Or perhaps he is bold enough to embrace a little LACE (oh well, quite a bit actually in this collection) shirts and ties to soften that whole otherwise structured classic men's look? Perhaps a Burberry man is someone who aren't afraid to take that risk to look a little fashion forward yet has a place in his heart to truly appreciate British heritage, and most of all, from this collection, the artisanship behind such intricate craftsmanship of cotton laces weaving. We felt, once again, Christopher Bailey has succeeded in bringing such fresh work and help cement his philosophy of promoting local British and homegrown talents, which is something we have always admired about him as a designer. Just look at how he introduces new British singers songwriters, season after season *_^

[Sneak Peek] Lancôme Advanced Génifique

Today (we meant Thursday) was quite a strange day, it drizzled in the morning, providing us the perfect time for daydreaming and the feeling of nostalgia quickly set in. We always love a little rainy day like this, excellent way to stay indoor and get some work done, and feel that tinkling cool sensation, a welcoming break from the hot and humid weather of late.

An old friend called on the phone and we spoke for close to an hour, which is quite a rare occasion these days (you know, we are so plugged into the social media way of corresponding with friends). It was quite a different experience.

Towards the end of the day, as we were preparing dinner, hubby announced that something has just arrived for us in the mail. To our pleasant surprise, it was a little white paper bag package with that iconic little rose logo. Instantaneously, we knew that it was something from the lovely French beauty brand, Lancôme!

Now we have tried this Lancôme Advanced Génifique concentrate before, and when approached by friends at Lancôme Malaysia if we would love to give it a try again, this time around, share our experience of how it fares after 7 days, we happily took up the challenge. So, check back here in a weeks time and we shall see how it goes *_^

Looking forward to next week then. Hope you are gearing towards an interesting weekend, we know we are, most definitely, lovelies *_^ By the way, thanks for the lovely bouquet of white roses, super gorgeous!

With love,
Jeann
