KLFW 2015 | Carven Ong - The Finer Details of Being A Woman

We are not able to let it go, not just yet. Yes, after all these while, those detailed work on the gowns that floated down the runway, that very day, are still very much playing in our minds, repeatedly. Hopelessly romantic and graceful, Carven Ong's Collection for Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2015 (KLFW2015) was one of the highlights to the annual event this year, for us, personally. (Those few shows that we managed to catch, not all, unfortunately)

We remembered vividly that, our camera kept clicking away when the pieces were presented, as if, involuntarily, without our permission, but we were more than happy to do so. Each piece had its charm, they captured our heart - the beads, the carefully crafted details of embroidery, the materials used, the geometrical lines and the intricately and well-made pieces of gowns, all spoke to us in ways that we could not hold back our excitement. We especially love the muted hues, it seems to set the tone and mood for the season, we felt. It is dreamy, to say the least. We had fallen in love, deep in love this time around.

Bobbi Brown For KLFW 2015 Makeup: Paint The Runway Blue (Part 2)

After the orange accent makeup look featured previously, Bobbi Brown continued to paint the runway beautiful and colourful, this time around, this makeup brand which has been the official makeup for Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week for the past three years transformed the models and made their eyes pop with the colour BLUE at this year's KLFW 2015 previously. We had a chance to check out how the looks were done by the Bobbi Brown team and also had a quick chat with Felix Nguyen, the Education Manager for Bobbi Brown (Asia Pacific).

Is there one major thematic makeup concept for this year's KLFW? Or is it as per the fashion designer's request?
This year, it is all about having one key focus, whether it be lip, eyes or brows. But the skin is always important and it is all about making the skin look as flawless as possible. With designers, it is a two-way process, so we work quite closely with them.

KLFW2015 | Justin Yap SS16 Collection - The Softness of A Powerful Woman

Powerful yet sensual, impressive yet expressive and modern yet emotive, these were the elements that danced in our mind when the models strut down the runway of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2015 (KLFW2015) recently that Sunday afternoon, at the showcase of Malaysian fashion designer, Justin Yap's Spring/Summer 2016 collection, one that left a memorable impression on us. Congratulations again, yet to another successful show, Justin *_^

Featured previously on our FACES segment here, Justin is no stranger to the Malaysian fashion scene and has come a long way from his early years of designing and founded his brand after winning MIFA Best Evening Wear Designer Award in 2005.

This year, Justin's SS16 collection took on a pretty different look and feel, away from his usual bold signature turquoise and jewel tones, in replaced, was a series of softer muted cool neutral coloured pieces that equally speak volume through attention to little details like hand embellished beadings that represent leopard pattern, or even the golden accented accessories worn by the models - simple yet elegant. You should have a relatively good idea which one is our most favourite ensemble from the collection by now *_^

Bobbi Brown For KLFW 2015 Makeup: The Orange Accent (Part 1)

Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2015 (KLFW2015) this year was super fun because we  not only got invited to some of the shows by local designer friends, but we also got an exclusive backstage pass to take a sneak peek at how the makeup sponsor, Bobbi Brown did the makeup for all the models who walked the catwalks for the designers, all thanks to the kind arrangement of our friends at Bobbi Brown Malaysia. It was a Saturday morning but we chose to show you the afternoon session makeup first, to kick start this little series as we loved the makeup looks designed for the shows.

Third year being the makeup main sponsor for KLFW, Bobbi Brown is a makeup brand that is no stranger to anyone who loves makeup and embraces the powerful makeup in you, to enhance your natural beauty. What we loved about this look was that little orange accent under the eye, done not with any eyeliner gel or eye makeup product per se, but rather with the creative use of a lipstick (Art Stick Hot Orange), the eyelids were done with a taupe colour and the overall look was a natural one. The face was kept nude to allow the orange tint to shine through. Very refreshing, we felt, with a sense of adventure and fun to it. Uber cool. We also had a quick chat with Felix Nguyen, the Education Manager for Bobbi Brown (Asia Pacific), who shared with us some of the tips and tricks and main products that were used to create or enhance the looks during the KLFW2015. We shall share more with you in our future blog posts, all right *_^

[Sneak Peek] KLFW2015 A Glimpse of The Beautiful Details

Carven Ong

Yes, today was a hectic day, it was very early that we had to drag ourselves to the heart of the city, Pavilion KL for something which we love, but still shouldering that fatigue from our recent shoot two days before this (hence the word "drag"), otherwise, we were super excited to check out what's up our local Malaysian designers' sleeves for this year's Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2015.

After much photo taking at the backstage for the makeup by Bobbi Brown and hair by Miko, we were more than ready to check out some of the fashion designers shows which we were invited to - Freedom x Eric Choong, Eclipse by Sonny San, Celest Thoi and Jimmy Lim. Don't be fooled by just the four designers here, a session is usually made up of a combination of a few designers who will be showcasing their collections during the KLFW2015. So, lucky us, we got to catch more shows than we had hope for. Awesome right?

They included Carven Ong, Comoddity, Liza Azulkarnain, Nuritha Harith, Sean & Sheila, Soonaru, Syomirizwa Gupta, Zakwan Anuar and Australian invited designer, Saveus by Jarred Baker. Note all designers labels with clickable links. You can discover more of their brands if you are curious.

Taking It Easy With This Year's Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2015 (KLFW)

It is that time of the year again! Yes, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2015 (KLFW) will official kick start tomorrow, 12th August onwards till the 16th. We have the pleasure to be invited to a few of the designers' show. Shall keep you all posted more via our Instagram updates here, follow us if you have not already *_^ Perhaps some sneak peek of the latest pieces from the runway shows.

We know some of our blogger friends are busy preparing already, some load up on skincare regiment so that they will look radiant, others planning for their hair and makeup to be done. For us, guess it is more of getting our gears all ready (say what?! so not the glamourous, right?) as we will be shooting some backstage makeup action by the official makeup sponsor, Bobbi Brown Malaysia. Since will be up and about, wardrobe will have to be functional, minimalist and comfortable. Shall see how it goes. Perhaps a change of clothes for the evening shows, nothing elaborate.

We are also currently busy with a production shoot on this Thursday, luckily we get a one day rest on Friday and Saturday will be a long day for us at the KLFW2015. If you are curious, here for some of the features on last year's shows which we attended.

Stay calm, kick back and let's go to fashion week together, shall we? haha
