Powerful yet sensual, impressive yet expressive and modern yet emotive, these were the elements that danced in our mind when the models strut down the runway of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-To-Wear 2015 (KLFW2015) recently that Sunday afternoon, at the showcase of Malaysian fashion designer, Justin Yap's Spring/Summer 2016 collection, one that left a memorable impression on us. Congratulations again, yet to another successful show, Justin *_^
Featured previously on our FACES segment here, Justin is no stranger to the Malaysian fashion scene and has come a long way from his early years of designing and founded his brand after winning MIFA Best Evening Wear Designer Award in 2005.

This year, Justin's SS16 collection took on a pretty different look and feel, away from his usual bold signature turquoise and jewel tones, in replaced, was a series of softer muted cool neutral coloured pieces that equally speak volume through attention to little details like hand embellished beadings that represent leopard pattern, or even the golden accented accessories worn by the models - simple yet elegant. You should have a relatively good idea which one is our most favourite ensemble from the collection by now *_^

Structured yet fluid, this collection demonstrated Justin's strength perfectly - the ability to translate power dressing into more subdued approach, making the modern woman less feared upon, though not necessarily lacking in commanding power, that masculine undertone. Separate pieces that work well mixed and matched, transitioning into evening draping silhouette that oozes feminine appeal with a touch of luxe with the softer fabrics and embellishments like gold and silver.

Here are some of LUMI's favourite picks. View the full collection here. Overall, Justin Yap's SS16 collection is extremely wearable, with chic and style rolled into one. Perhaps going with his gut feeling did work to his advantage after all for this season as Justin revealed, "Fashion should be intuitive and I work with my instincts most of the time".
Thanks Justin for the invite and we utterly enjoyed ourselves that Sunday afternoon! More about Justin Yap the brand here and keep up-to-date via his instagram here.
