M.A.C Trends SS16: All or Nothing Part 2

Having attended the M.A.C Trends Autumn/Winter 2016 presentation earlier today, it is high time for us to bid farewell to the Spring/Summer 2016 trends here today to make it official. Goodbye spring, hello summer, the trendy M.A.C way. We featured the SS16 trends in our previous first parter here, now let's dive into the remaining sub-trends from the two major ones - ALL or NOTHING.

ALL
Taking the highly crafted and creative idea of facial jewellery and adornment and translating it into makeup has gained traction since last season. A kooky lash, a naive liner, and out-there lip... These are tweaks of stylish eccentricity. Makeup is now viewed as an alternative form of accessories, as an extension of fashion more than a beautifying tool. These supremely confident statements project an attitude of beautiful contemporaneity - they are as simple as they are empathetically bold; jolts of kaleidoscopic colour in unexpected proportions worn against a simply prepared skin are singular, uncomplicated, free of pretence... and, importantly, playful and fun. "This isn't makeup that takes itself too seriously," explains Terry Barber. "It searches for an experimental, youthful and dynamic spirit that brings a beautiful and unexpected ornamentation to the face," agrees Lyne Desnoyers. "There is a real vibrancy to these looks... they're energetic." The sub-theme of the ALL theme we are sharing here today are Hot Cherry and Crayon.

M.A.C Trends SS16: ALL or NOTHING Part 1

Nothing beats checking out the latest colours and beauty trends that intertwine with runway shows better than from a beauty brand that pushes the envelope of how makeup is perceived and interpreted, again and again, the makeup innovator, M.A.C Cosmetics. Following our "tradition" of sharing these trends with you previously (here), we are excited to explore with you the latest Spring/Summer 2016 makeup looks, inspired by fashion and backstage beauties and creations. This season, the two major themes are ALL or NOTHING. Under the ALL theme, there are trends like Aquatic, Broken Doll, Crayon and Hot Cherry. As for NOTHING, there are Lustre, Raw Refined and The Face. Today, we shall share 2 trends from each theme here.

ALL
There is a refreshing simplicity to beauty this season, in both literal and conceptual terms: makeup artist are either making a decisive statement that pushes one element to the extreme, or adopting a variant on "no makeup" as an equally strong and relevant stye of choice for SS16. "You're either doing what looks like nothing or a strong something." summarises Tom Pecheux. The relative extremity of both these aesthetic options feels modern right now because they rebel against generic beauty. "It's about rejecting the idea that beauty can be a 'recipe'," says Terry Barber of how makeup artists are exploring ways to elevate natural beauty while simultaneously challenging the idea of "perfection." that an embrace of "real" beauty has been relevant for a few seasons reveals that the notion of a total seasonal "reboot" on aesthetics is a rather outmoded concept: the story of modern makeup is a conversation that evolves from one season to the next, the current debate swings away from symmetry, airbrushing or homogenised proportions and swings towards representing a confident, sentient individual whose makeup fits her face rather than clones "a look."

M.A.C Autumn/Winter 2015 Trend Presentation With James Molloy

Super awesome to always be included in M.A.C Cosmetics' Trend Presentation for how to reinterpret makeup and making it all fresh and new are the things that have always intrigued the nuts out of us and we are delighted to be a part of this reveal, season after season. To begin this blog post, we would love to thank M.A.C Malaysia for having us there that very day *_^

Honing into what makeup is truly all about, we love the fact that this makeup trendsetter brand embraces the notion that Beauty Is Diversity for its Autumn/Winter 2015.  In the constant and evolving conversation of what defines beauty today, true makeup artistry broadens the propositions and opens our eyes to inspired options of how to celebrate beauty with makeup. This time around, M.A.C brought us James Molloy, the Director of Makeup Artistry of M.A.C Cosmetics to share what's trending in the fashion and beauty industry for the season. These include the four major trends - Beautiful and Damned, Strength of Beauty, Love Worn and Red 70s.
