Introducing The Rejuvenating Experience of Hair Rituel By Sisley Paris

Our tresses may seem like a passing notion to some (like us previously) but to many, it is the one true crowning glory that truly deserves the love and attention it requires. After going through series of hair colour changes and experimentations, we have come to appreciate the importance of good hair care, even though we are always spotted with ultra short hair *_^ So, you can imagine our excitement when Sisley Malaysia team invited us to an exclusive hair journey with its new launch of Hair Rituel by Sisley Paris (here for more) comprehensive hair care program that aims to clean and detangle, regenerate, fortify and beautify.

The Hair Rituel by Sisley Paris consists of 6 hair care products that were carefully formulated to give one's hair the best pampering experience. It's a sensorial and experiential approach to hair care, and upon us arriving at the pop-up counter that afternoon, indeed it was such a relaxing and pampering time with the brand! Within the program, there are 2 shampoos (The Revitalising Volumising Shampoo and the Revitalising Soothing Shampoo), The Restructuring ConditionerRegenerating Hair Care MaskRevitalising Fortifying Serum (for the scalp) and Precious Hair Care Oil

We shall share with you a little of our experience using some of the hair care products here.

[FACES] The Thinking Hair Creator, Marcus Chin of The Soloist Salon

Fell in love with all things related to hair for more than 10 years now, his love affair has grown even stronger these days with the forming of The Soloist Hair Salon with his other two founding partners, Nicholas Chua and Eewen Yap. Marcus Chin loves cutting and colouring most now, as he feels these two elements go hand-in-hand and they are areas that give him the most satisfaction in terms of creativity. He has found his calling and confidence in the hair industry. He loves cooking and would not mind to invite you for a meal or two some day. We caught up with him recently to get to know more about this talented hairstylist and try to find out what makes him tick and what pushes him in the hairdressing business today.

Born in 1987 and grew up in Seremban, Marcus has always been a somewhat hyperactive teenager who seemed to give teachers headaches even though he scored wonderfully in his comprehension but just could never get good grades as expected from his teachers. Seen as being relatively naughty, a troublemaker with a mix of street smart, in the eyes of the teachers and peers, he was destined for other things in life besides studying. One thing stood out though, he always loved to style his hair in a particular way and often got the attention of his friends. Naturally, Marcus thought that perhaps his interest would eventually be in hairstyling.

It was confirmed much later through an incident in school which this young hairstylist-in-the-making was destined to walk down the path that he is now walking - when he had to help cut and fix a friend's hair which was ruined by the teacher's carefree way of cutting due to punishment. Marcus very first hair cut in his life was done in a boys' school toilet back then, as a favour for his friend to "rescue" and "salvage" his bad hair. Even then, he came to realise he still could not find his real purpose in life.

The only female founder of The Soloist Hair Salon, our official hair partner, Eewen Yap injects that feminine aspect to the business of hair, bringing a breath of fresh air and unique perspective to how hair styling should be interpreted. Always eager and ready to try new things, she impresses her customers and is adored by media friends with her creative hair work for photo shoots. Eewen believes, "you are greater than you know yourself to be, so just be great!" that is her motto in life.

We had a chance to speak to her recently and picked her brain on one thing which is close to her heart now, the matters of the hair.

[FACES] The Charismatic & Talented Nicholas Chua of The Soloist Salon

A life filled with memories and stories like growing up struggling, financially, playing in a band, jamming with friends after school, drawing portraits and comics, behaving mischievously like skipping classes or getting into fights, then moving onto selling jeans, boots to earn a living, right down to taking up hair lessons and subsequently winning the coveted REDKEN IDOL competition in 2006 and now owning and running his own hair salon with another two founding partners, how would one categorise such a personality?

An entrepreneur in the making? Or a man who has come full circle in life and is now learning to take his own stride, after much life experiences? Perhaps a bit of everything as the way we see it, it is such colours in his life that made him who he is today - a man who treasures the good times but will not forget the hard times from the past that made him stronger today. Yes, we are talking about our FACES personality, NICHOLAS CHUA, one of the founding partners and proud owner of The Soloist Salon, our official hair partner (in crime *_^), which we introduced previously here. Do read on as it is a roller coaster ride from here onwards.

This is his story and this was our conversation that day.

[The Hair Affair] Introducing The Soloist Salon | A Truly Unique Hair Experience

They say, one's hairstyle makes or breaks a person as it changes your entire appearance all together. A great hairstyle, be it cut or colour, will transform you from just a normal typical look to an awesome fabulous and turn-head refreshing look. We are truly fortunate to be able to team up with one of the top hair professionals in town to bring you a series of hair related content from this month onwards and hope to share with you a little of our experience in the hair department. Come on this journey with us and we hope you will learn a thing or two about hair and have fun along the way.

We are proud to introduce you to LUMINNEJ's official hair styling partner for the year - The Soloist Salon.

First off, we have to admit that we have never really put much emphasis on our hair as we have always had short hair our entire life ... very very short hair at times (from childhood till adulthood, can you believe that?) and we have the misconception thinking that there is nothing much styling we can do with it. We don't even own a comb to be down right honest as we only towel dry our hair *_^ You must be thinking, what a weirdo we are by now! Having said that, we do feel it is time to change things up, that was how The Soloist Salon came into the picture recently. After an initial meet up with one of the founders, Nicholas Chua, we were set for our next appointment a few days later - hair colouring and boy, you would not believed how much fun we had that day!

Shiseido Professional Asian Texture Trend 2016 With Kim Hyun Tae

One of the many things that frames a person's face well is most definitely how the hair looks. Keeping healthy hair is essential, maintaining and updating the hair style that fits your personality while keeping updated, to a certain extend, with the current trend helps boost a confident image too. We recently had the pleasure to sit down with the CEO of RaBeauty Core Salon, the renowned Korean hair stylist, Kim Hyun Tae and got some tips in terms of what's trending in the hair industry, one that Shiseido Professional called it the Asian Texture Trend 2016. Let's check them out, shall we?

Apparently, what is trending in 2016 in Korea is the wavy styles. Wavy hair and curls has been a beauty staple for several consecutive occasions, and this trend is set to continue. The natural loose curls, also known as the famous "Korean" big waves are the trending looks now and also in the upcoming season. Just think - those lovely Korean actresses and you will get the big idea. Here are some, shown above, compiled via LUMI's Korean Faces Pinterest board here. According to Mr. Kim Hyun Tae, with his 15 years of experience in the haircare business and styling the likes of Korean beauties like actress Song Hye Kyo, amongst others, revealed that Koreans love to see women in wavy or curls hairstyle is because this trend usually compliments the face structure well and makes the women look young. When one looks younger, most naturally, they would come across more appealing and pleasing to the eyes.

Shiseido Professional The Hair Care Fuente Forte Carbonated Head Spa Experience at Label S Signature Salon

We have to admit, we have not done a hair treatment or spa of any sorts before this, since we have always been having super short hair (only long hair requires such pampering or treatment and needed it more than us, at least that was what we thought), so we were equally surprised when we were approached by the renowned Scalp Care Expert brand for 100 years, Shiseido Professional Malaysia to take up a hair treatment pampering session recently. So, we thought, why not give it a try. It should fun, right?

So, the day arrived, we presented ourselves at this beautifully set up hair salon called Label S Signature at Ara Damansara. (here for more updates via their IG feeds) It was a cosy and inviting space, equipped with even a relaxed cafe style centre-piece table and coffee maker. Of course, the star products for the day were on display as well.
