[Review] Innisfree Whitening Pore Synergy Serum

Part of the Dual-Functioning Whitening and Pore Line, Korean naturalism brand, Innisfree's Whitening Pore Synergy Serum is designed specifically just for that purpose - to brighten skin tone while treating pores concurrently to reveal a brighter, even and luminous skin. This very purpose itself got us super excited when we were presented this product from Innisfree Malaysia, some time back, to give it a go, as visibly enlarged pores and dark spots are two of our major skin concerns, for combination type skin like ours.

The recent cosmetic study on Asian women by AmorePacific, the parent company of Innisfree demonstrated that there is a strong correlation between pore size and skin tone. The finding showed that enlarged pores bring about rough and uneven skin texture which eventually leads to a dull overall skin tone. For us, the dark spots were developed over time over the years as we were too naive to believe in the importance of sun care back in our university time when we were very active in outdoor sports under the scorching sun most of the time.

The Packaging
You will realize that we do love this Korean brand, Innisfree (our previous posts on their Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask and Green Tea Seed Serum), part of the reason is their eco-friendly 100% recyclable paper packaging made with recycled tangerine peels and soy ink which is really awesome. This one is no exception. The logo is visible on the packaging, simple and fuss free with a pump bottle.

The Ingredients
Tangerine peel has long been used as medicinal herbs termed as dried orange peel, and it was said that eating the fruit and rubbing the peel on the skin would brighten up one's skin. Of course, to skip the hassle of doing than, Innisfree has harnessed that same goodness into a bottle and brought us this Whitening Pore Synergy Serum instead, convenience in a bottle.

The organic Jeju tangerine peel is enriched with ingredients that attribute a brightening effect on the skin. In fact, the peel has almost twice as much flavonoids, more than twice the amount of Vitamin C, and more than four times the amount of Vitamin E, amongst other nutrients found in the whole tangerine.

Extracting fresh tangerine juice by squeezing its peels with direct pressure, without any additional heating element help preserve the effectiveness of the active ingredients. The extracted juice is then purified with a mineral filter, delivering a highly concentrated tangerine essence consisting of SIX citrus flavonoids - Narirutin, Tangeritin, Hesperidin, HMF, Poncirin and Nobiletin. All these flavonoids contribute to the excellence in brightening and pore care results. They also inhibit the production of melanin which causes dark spots, at the same time, promoting collagen growth resulting in smooth and tightened pores.

The Experience
We love the texture of this ampoule-essence serum. It absorbs into the skin really well and we totally enjoy the natural citrusy smell of it. Lightweight and smooth, one could almost see very tiny specks of tangerine in the serum, it feels nice on the touch. Skin is most definitely calmed and relaxed after application. After pro-long use, we do see that our skin is slightly more even and brightened in totality, but it does not really diminishes our stubborn dark spots on the face though. Pore size wise, it shows slight improvement, but not drastic enough to make us really excited. Perhaps, we do need to give a longer time to see more significant improvements.

Note: Ampoule contains high concentration of active ingredients, even higher than serum does and usually is targeted for specific purposes. Products containing ampoule are usually more pricy than serum. This is because ampoule contains the lightest texture, penetrates into the skin faster and provides the fastest results within a short time.

Innisfree Whitening Pore Synergy Serum which contains 82% fresh tangerine peel essence is retailed at MYR130 for 50ml. Do check out the rest of the products in this range more here. More about Innisfree the brand here.

Thanks Innisfree Malaysia for the love. Till our next skincare adventure, have a luminously beautiful and happy week ahead, lovelies *_^

With love,
Jeann

  1. So this is to be applied as normal serum? No need to rinse it off? It does sounds interesting and I might pick it up when I head back to Malaysia next year. I'm starting to notice my pores recently...sigh, the beauty of aging.
