[Review] clé de peau BEAUTÉ Intensive Brightening Mask

clé de peau BEAUTÉ is one of our top favourite Japanese beauty brands and we especially love their makeup range which we shared previously here, here and here before. We had the privilege to attend the brand's newly refurbished boutique opening at Parkson, Pavilion KL some time back and also the opportunity to try out their Intensive Brightening Mask. Today, we shall take some time to share with you our experience using the masks. So, let's indulge in some ultimate luxury, shall we?

With this brand, everything spells luxury, that would include the silver almost reflective packaging that these 6 sachets of masks come in. According to clé de peau BEAUTÉ , this is a luxurious brightening mask that minimises the visible signs of excess melanin production and reduces the appearance of spots and freckles. Infuses skin with intensive moisture and beneficial ingredients to create a look of translucence and radiance while eliminating dullness and uneven skin tone. Delivers noticeable brightening in a single application.

Sounds impressive, we feel. What exactly makes up such a powerful mask, we wonder? These are some of the rationals from the brand. The mask contains Illuminating Complex, a powerful moisture-stabilizing force that creates a radiant complexion. Formulated with the intensive brightening ingredients like Tranexamic Acid and 4MSK (potassium 4-methoxysalicylate), it is able to beautify the skin, help prevent dark spot and freckles, minimize the visible signs of excess melanin, provide brightness and evenness with every usage. It also increases moisture and resilience in skin. The mask also provides a luxurious smoothing treatment for skin showing signs of aging or UV damage and inspires a look of radiance emanating from within. Formulated with an exclusive clé de peau BEAUTÉ ingredient, Cellular IC Normalizer that enhances conditions for optimal functioning of the cellular ion channel system, it is dermatologist-tested.

Designed in two separate sections to address the specific skincare needs of the upper and lower areas of the face because the brand believes that the cause of the skin dullness for these two parts of our face differ. For the top part of our face, oiliness is the main reason while the lower part of our face are due to the appearance of large pores and roughness of the skin. Therefore, the top-half of the face sheet is soaked in a clear serum-like fluid, works to balance the T-Zone, produces a brightening effect by eliminating dark circles and dullness in the eye area, and diminishing uneven skin coloration caused by sebum on the nose. The creamy emulsion of the bottom-half of the face sheet helps to firm sagging skin at the cheek and mouth area.

Instruction to use the two separate sheet mask is clearly printed on the packet. Carefully tear out the packets and gently take out the face mask, starting with the lower half first. It is very rich and wet, so be careful not to drip. Unfold gingerly, hold both sides of the mask and position around the mouth. Align mask to facial contour, smoothing over cheeks and chin. Next, for the upper area sheet, remove mask from packet and unfold carefully. Pull the contoured flaps for the eye area outward and hold both sides of the mask. Position mask around eyes and gently press the mask against the forehead and onto the cheek area directly beneath the eyes, making sure it also fits around the nose area. Close eyes and fit contoured flaps over eyelids. With both palms, gentle press mask against face to adhere perfectly. Now, enjoy the richness of the mask for the next 10 minutes, then remove without having to rinse off.

We feel the facial sheet mask has a nice thickness and quality to it, not too thin or flimsy, feels soft on the skin, but most definitely generously soaked in the ingredients mentioned above, super rich in texture, we can almost feel that the skin is drinking in all the goodness throughout our 10-minute application, slowly but surely. In fact, it can go even further or longer than that without drying up, unless we gently press onto them and rub the "juice" onto our neck, or other parts of our body, like arms, hands, even legs. Seriously, that much of liquid from a single application! The design of the sheets also fit the contour of our face nicely. Even after we remove this brightening mask from our face, the moisture level stays with the face or the skin, till your next cleansing, actually. So, we do prefer to use it on days when we don't need to run out for errands, indoor where we can let the after-goodness stays longer *_^

We have to admit that we saved this mask for a time when we just got a slight tan from all the shooting work done outdoor, under the hot sun for one of our projects. We wanted to see how this brightening mask would fare and work its wonder. On the hydration and moisture richness level, this one MOST definitely delivers and performs way beyond. As for the claim of intense brightness after one application, it falls short a tad. We do feel the suppleness and the plumpness it provides, totally. Perhaps we need multiple and continuous usage to see a much better result in terms of radiance, brightness and translucency that the mask promises. This mask is most definitely one that you can pamper yourself with, after a long day, when your skin feels most tired and needed a good pick-me-up and the maximum moisture and comfort level you so desire. (if you have deep pockets, that is *_^) Terribly comforting and luxuriously enriching for the skin.

Located on the 3rd floor, the newly renovated clé de peau BEAUTÉ counter introduces a whole new concept - a fresh new look and displays, with a sophisticated interior and dynamic layout. A diamond-like décor is installed as the centre piece, representing the brand's core value "Radiance of Joy" which also resembles the star product, La Crème. The three main zones of the counter are the mesmerising gallery (display of skincare and beauty products), the exclusive salon (one-to-one consultation session) and the timeless cabin (luxurious facial treatment room).
