[Inspiration] That Space Called The Bedroom

Of all the spaces in our home, perhaps we spend fairly a big chunk of our time in this space called bedroom. It is a space of privacy, a space of intimacy, a space of inspiration and so much more. As Ilse Crawford puts in aptly in her book, "Home is where the heart is?"...

"Here you are less visible. A sort of home within a home, bed is a sanctuary, a place to immerse yourself in your DNA, to wrap yourself in your own smell and that of your dearest, to centre yourself, to feel protected until you are ready to face the world again. (And more people than you might imagine have found bed their most creative space: among them, Matisse, Hemingway, Colette.) If that doesn't work, just add a hot-water bottle."

We truly treasure our sleep and the bed is our ultimate friend, honestly *_^ Never have we felt so ourselves and the most relaxed when we hit that soft fluffy bed of ours at the end of each day, knowing that we shall wake up the next morning, feeling energized and recharged with the foolish zest to conquer the world (or at least, that's what we let ourselves to think!)

A good night sleep is absolutely crucial, especially for our emotional well-being, above all, we feel. Bedroom provides that kind of space for us to be ourselves, to be who we wish to be and most often than not, these days, we use our bedroom for more than just sleeping alone. That bed becomes a multi-functional piece of furniture at home.

Do you like to have breakfast in bed? Or you are the one that snuggle back into bed if the rain comes or the snow falls and hide underneath the bedsheets to steal a bit more time to sleep, or merely just for the sake of staying in bed? Are you one that allows your dog onto your bed or let your children happily turn themselves into overly cheerful human alarm-clocks?

Or perhaps you love to read a good book in bed, or write on your blog in the comfortable warmth of your trusty bed which seemingly provides you with an overflow of inspiration? Maybe line your table with lovely scented candles and put your favourite makeup items on display? Whatever you fill your bedroom with or what you do in this special personal space of yours, we all have our own way of making it our own, the most precious way we know how.

Perhaps you would like to share what's your best moments in your bedroom with us? All visuals via LUMI's pinterest.

Good morning Monday! Have a luminously beautiful start to the week, lovelies... gosh, on second thought, let me just get back to my bed, just for a little while more?

  1. I couldn't agree more. And it's a fact that we spend most of our lives in bed so make it a good one. I am a person who shares my bed with my dog and I love to read in it too. I don't do breakfast in bed, mainly because I don't really eat breakfast but I am prone to snacking there lol.

  2. I would never ever eat in bed. That just seems like asking for bugs to come visit ;p Actually I really value my sleep so I try to make my bedroom a sanctuary for sleep and not much else. I also believe in feng shui so I don't store anything under my bed. Sorry I didn't really look at the images in this post cause I caught the sight of feet and feet seriously skeeve me out.

Hope your week is off to a lovely start Jeann!

  3. I can spend hours and hours laying on the bed either sleeping, napping, working or watching TV. Then, I'll repeat it all over again! LOL! Especially when days get busy, I think of my bed the most actually or maybe couch too?
