Developed by Burberry Makeup Artistic Consultant Wendy Rowe, under the creative direction of Chief Creative and CEO, Christopher Bailey, the Functionregalia Makeup Collection previewed at the previous Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Spring/Summer 2016 runway show was a beautiful play of satin skin with effortless, natural contouring and highlights, nude open eyes, statement lips in iconic Burberry shade Oxblood and signature Nude Beige, finished off with models' nails painted in Optic White and Stone. The celebrities and guests were equally stunning in the similar hues and tones for their makeup, super modern and chic, which we absolutely adore.
We love the fact that the models' face were kept super clean and minimal (even though there were subtle highlight and contouring with the runway-inspired strobing techniques that went onto the face), very much to the iconic Burberry understated luminosity and fresh-faced look all along, yet making the lips pop with the deeper shade, and at times, the lighter nude colour. Very refreshing sort of makeup, yet did not loose that certain modern sophistication that is Burberry.
The new limited edition 2016 Runway Palette was previewed on the runway. A lightweight illuminating face powder set with an intricate lace-pattern design, inspired by delicate fabrics from the womenswear collection looked pretty interesting indeed. Overall, the runway looks were a beautiful parade of enchanted hues, very much adaptable to off-runway day-to-day looks that are easily achievable, we feel.
