[Review] Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsuné Holiday Collection 2015

East meets West, Maison Kitsuné debut beauty collection, sees a collaboration of this fashion, arts and music fore-fronting Tokyo + Paris inspired brand with eclectic and cultural crossover pioneering Japanese beauty brand, Shu Uemura is one that is whimsical, fun, colourful and most of all, invigorating. Bursting with a sense of adventure and exploration, this Shu Uumura x Maison Kitsuné 2015 Holiday Collection is an interplay of Western elements, infused with Eastern sensibility and aesthetics, aptly designed allowing for the creation of a variety of looks for the festive occasion.

Founded by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, Maison Kitsuné (House of Fox) is a unique concept of infusing fashion, music and design into its work, reinventing the "classics" while mixing them with daring range of colours, prints and materials, very much close to the philosophy of Shu Uemura's art of beauty - a long standing belief of Mr. Shu Uemura himself, bridging arts and beauty, merging the two in all its forms and glory. We had the pleasure to attend the recent Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsuné media preview plus launch and check out more about this holiday collection, all thanks to the Shu Uemura Malaysia team *_^

Beauty Remix Smokey Eye and Cheek Palette (MYR265)
Housed in a steady casing, this Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsuné eye and cheek palette comes in the clean white and gold accented box, and once opened, one will definitely be intrigued by the design of the casing - dress vs kimono and coffee vs green tea set, most definitely in line with its "east meets west" theme. We also love that little touches to the inner of the box, the theme continues. How cute is that.

This face palette comes in two types, the one we got is PLUM (the other one is Indigo). This can be used to create an unusual mixture of classic French inspired smokey eyes in burgundy shades and Tokyo's trendy vibe with orange blush accenting the upper edge. 7 pressed eyeshadows (Burgundy, Khaki Brown, Lavender, Silver, Soft Yellow, Salmon Pink and Orange) and 1 blusher (Glow On Orange). The set also comes with a mini brush and sponge applicator.

When we first got this palette, we were not too sure what to do with it as orange is not a usual tone that we use, but once we started to experiment with this, the colours came alive and we find that orange blusher super cool and chic! The eyeshadows glide on really smoothly and the more shimmer ones like the Salmon Pink and Orange stood out. We believe Shu Uemura fans would definitely love this limited edition palette, for sure. Even we were converted and sold. So much options once you mix and match from it for that glittery festive mood makeup look, we feel. Definitely a keeper!

Laque Sparkler/Lip Color (5.2g at MYR95.40)
Following along the same concept, this lip colour comes in a simple white golden box. Little cute illustration is found at the inner side of the packaging. The Maison Kitsuné logo is evident on this lip product, PLUM SHIMMER. (The other two shades are Fleur Shine and Persimmon Glow).

Fell in love we did, with this one as it is not only a beautiful shade, the bright red shade gleams with that polished shine that would brighten up your complexion, and just makes one joyful. Other great points to this is that we super love the watery texture, yet the stain is great, awesome coverage for the lips and the staying power is surprisingly very good. The lightweight texture makes this one a winner, absolutely. We are so loving this one as it feels really comfortable on the lips.

Apart from these two items featured here, this holiday collection limited edition include some cool makeup items like the brand's iconic false lashes, brush set, nail colours, eyelash curler, colourful edgy eye pencils and so much more. Some of which have the little golden fox emblem on the packaging which is super cute. Here for the entire range. Heather Boo, the New York based two-girl band, Beau is the campaign face for the collection, looking all dolled up lovely.

On a separate note, it was a pleasant evening, the Eastern vibe of Opium KL restaurant was turned into a space for artful decorations made up of Fox inspired (yes, Kitsuné means fox in Japanese) balloons, flowers, the ever so cute Shu Bear (so the kawaii) with the colourful false lashes were just a tip of the iceberg. What ensued was a makeup performances by the Shu Uemura Master Artists on the selected Shu Girls for the night. A great deal of bloggers, media, celebrities and who's who in the industry were there. We especially had a great time when Freyo, local independent singer came on and serenaded the audience that night with her mix of nice tunes and catchy numbers.
