Spirited Away With Jo Malone London's Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne, With Incense & Embers Scented Candle

If I were a girl
The howling of the night wind gathers speed, brushing against the ruffles of my collar,
rubbing against my neck, it feels exhilarating, yet anxious in anticipation, as if,
something exciting is about to burst onto the night scene,
I don't particularly like adventures like this, as much as the boys, but then again,
who likes to be left out, right?

If I were a girl, perhaps I would be Anne, one of the "famous five" in an Enid Blyton's book. In a strange way, when we were first introduced to Jo Malone London's Wood Sage & Sea Salt, the scent brought us back to those days when we would bury ourselves in the endless adventures of these pages, traversing the unknown, the vast landscapes, imagining what life throws at us, through the skillful writings of this amazing woman author. Those were the days.

If I were a woman
The crushing wave that comes rushing towards us, gradually subsides and by the time it reaches our feet, it washes away the fatigue that envelopes our mind, like how the sea water cleans away the sand between our toes, in such a soft yet effortless manner, making us fall in love with the fresh scent, again and again, each time we put it on. Other times, it does feel like the British weather, ever a little melancholic, but never dull. We believe, that is what fascinates us about this cologne. It evokes our imagination, our emotions towards a certain particular time and space, elevates us to those moments that equate to earthiness, freshness, yet very grounded in many ways. You make us feel ALIVE, in an extremely poetic state of mind. You sent us to a faraway land, one that calls for love, whispering into our ears to listen, and be ready to open our mind, and heart, to receive new things, new perspectives. Strangely, it reminds us of this movie, P.S. I Love You here.

The edginess of wood sage, a combination of ambrette seed, sea salt, along with red algae and grapefruit, this cologne brings along the best of mineral scent of the rugged cliffs, it is one that totally captures our heart and mind, one that brings freshness and sophistication into one beautiful simple glass bottle. It is that sense of freedom and nature that we absolutely adore. Definitely a great way of introduction to the Jo Malone London's wonderful scents, we feel, for us, personally. The best part is, a Jo Malone London scent can be worn alone, or layered over a few other colognes to create your own signature scent that stays true to you and your personality, one that speaks to you, and you alone. How enchanting it is.

A Jo Malone Candle is steeped in the craftsmanship of no fewer than 16 artisans on Lord Cowdray's British estate. Hand-blended, hand-finished and hand wrapped, it most indeed has that Jo Malone London's distinctive touch. When we first received one that is Incense & Embers, we could not keep our eyes off this beautiful scented candle. Black ribbon and signature Jo Malone London sticker and label, it was hard for us to even begin to light it. We were truly saving it for special occasions.

A little extra token from the Jo Malone Christmas package #Kissmas, love the packaging!

We feel it best fits a beautiful bathroom that has an amazingly soothing white bath tub. It would complete any space beyond this as well, like in a bedroom or living room, calming the senses and pleases the eyes of the owner. Filling the space with an inviting atmosphere, it will uplift, wind down or simply add an air of luxury.

Jo Malone London Wood Sage & Sea Salt cologne100 ml (featured here) is retailed at MYR450 and 30ml for MYR225 while the Incense & Embers candle is retailed at MYR285.

On a separate note, Jo Malone London will be launching their new limited edition collection called The Herb Garden this coming 1st March, 2016. It is an intimate collaboration between the brand with renowned master perfumer, Anne Flipo, who is one that created wonderful scents from Fleur de Narcisse for l'Artisan Parfumeur to Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, Paco Rabanne Invictus and Chloë Love Story. For Anne, a fragrance starts with the people and things around us, with language, "words and emotion are our primary materials." says this talented lady who spent her childhood in rural Picardy, surrounded by vivid scent from wild flowers to well-groomed flower beds and carefully tended vegetable gardens.

  1. Very lovely. Jo Malone is one of my favourite brands, I've not tried this particular one, but I do love their Mimosa and Cardamom, as well as the Tuberose scenets.
