This is our first time hearing the word, Functionregalia (pardon our ignorance) and upon a little research discovered that it was quite an apt one, which is, we feel, for this new Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2016 collection premiered some time back at the custom-built venue at London's Kensington Gardens, one that we could only declare that it truly captured our hearts.
The word "regalia" is defined as the distinctive clothing worn and ornaments carried at formal occasions as an indication of status. So, simply put, it has that whole royal touch or status to it, we feel. So for us, Burberry's Functionregalia could perhaps mean functional pieces with a royal touch to them or wearable luxurious pieces? Interesting concept indeed.
As always, Burberry is a power house in using social media to its advantage, collaborating with Snapchat to bring the audience up-to-date informations and sneak peek into certain key looks, which kept the audience anticipating and wanting for more. Of course, it would not be a Burberry show without the music and live performances of local British talent like Alison Moyet and the attendance of a string of celebrities to brighten up the occasion. It was refreshing for us to see many more Asian faces this time around, in the likes of Liu Wen, Guey Lun Mei, Miriam Yeung and Sun Li.
The colour palette for this collection fell along the shades of black, white, navy, gold, cream and nude, very classic with a tinge of glam and luxury, mixing classic coats with oversized gold buttons and functional pieces with elements of regalia which include metallic cording, crested buttons and hand-embroidered military motifs. We love the English lace in particular, the mesh work, the occasional biker jackets thrown into the mix and especially the cutout ankle boots! Extremely modern and chic, don't you think?
The accessories department was nothing short of interesting, the oblong and square Belt Bag and back-to-school 80s style Burberry Rucksack bags in multiple-zip pockets. We are always very intrigued by Burberry's eyewear and Christoper Bailey seems to know how to always pull them off looking cool and effortless. Makeup for the models designed by Burberry Makeup Artistic Consultant Wendy Rowe was one that had a satin-finished face with effortless natural contouring and highlights, nude open eyes and statement lips, be it in the iconic Burberry shade of Oxblood or signature Nude Beige, which we previously blogged about here. This is one makeup collection which we would love to play around with *_^
Here are some of our favourite LUMI picks from the collection. It was most definitely a star-studded event, we even spotted our favourite male actor, Benedict Cumberbatch! Congratulations to Burberry for yet another great show and beautiful collection which is most definitely eye catching and wearable. To discover more about the brand, hop over here.
On another note, Burberry has just recently released its Spiring/Summer 2016 advertising campaign, with the collection being worn by some up-and-coming new British talents in the fashion world and they are looking quite sensual. If you had missed the show, you could check out the highlight video of the collection here.

Model Liu Wen and actress Guey Lun Mei at the front row of the show. Super loving their lip colour for the day! |

You know what, I am not familiar with that term either so thanks for the heads up. I am actually really loving it's definition so don't be too surprised if you start noticing me overusing it hehehe. Burberry have some amazing pieces, this collection though has to be my fave yet. All those gorgeous laser cut details. Swoon.

Haha yes indeed Sonia. I think we love the same thing about this collection *_^
DeleteI remember when this collection was shown in September during LFW, it was all people talked about! It was as if all other shows didn't matter anymore. This one was also a bit further away from the 'regular' LFW venue. I loved the collection and Burberry always manages to stay chic and feminine!

Oh really? So did you manage to catch it LIVE yourself? It would be my dream come true if I ever get to attend one of Burberry's show LIVE myself, haha!
