LUMI's Top Picks For Natural Radiance Base Makeup

We are a huge fan of natural and radiance base makeup look and what is more exciting than starting the year of 2016 with our top picks for achieving such glowing looks, right? So, we have decided to put together a special feature, introducing you some of our most favourite base makeup products to achieve the glowing radiance look. If you are all for that healthy glow skin, a better version of you type of base makeup, stay on for more then, lovelies *_^

We take on the notion that skin needs to breathe, for makeup to look natural, your skin needs to do that little peek-a-boo thing, we feel covering every imperfection is not exactly our best makeup approach, or at least, how we fancy it. Nonetheless, not everyone of us are born with perfect poreless or smooth skin, so it helps to have some base products that could even out the skin tone, making a few adjustments onto our skin surface here and there, (like blurring out some degree of imperfections) and yet, still maintain the true face that we would like to put forward. So, here are some of our most favourite base makeup products to meet such objectives, and later on, one or two products to enhance that extra little "glow"!

LUMI's TOP FOUR FOUNDATION FOR NATURAL RADIANCE BASE
M.A.C Studio Waterweight, SPF30/PA++, 30ml (MYR165)
Introduced sometime last year, M.A.C Cosmetics joined the league of fresh makeup base products that deliver exceptional fluidity and sheerness, almost weightless sort of feel to the skin. Non-acnegenic, oil-free and fragrance free, this ultra thin and fluid gel serum formula is one of our top picks. What we absolutely love most about this liquid foundation is its high blendability. Super lightweight, watery, it almost feels like a thin veil caressing your face upon application, as if it melts into your skin and gives off that really fresh finishing look. You won't feel like you have foundation on. Massive HUGE love for this. Here for more.

Clé de Peau BEAUTÉ Radiant Fluid Foundation, 30ml (MYR411.28)
You will not believe how dreamy this foundation glides onto your skin till you try it on. Consistency wise, it is not as watery as the M.A.C Studio Waterweight, but it blankets the skin perfectly with its smooth texture. It will give you that natural finish for your base makeup and never overpower or weigh down your skin. Super easy to blend and apply onto the skin. Has been one of our favourites. Here to discover more and here for our previous review on the foundation.

Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation, 30ml (MYR191)
Enriched with soft-focus agents and glazed pigments, this Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation dries up pretty quickly on the skin upon application, yet it is not cakey and tight on the skin. It gives off that sheer look that seems to smooth away some of the imperfections you may have. We also love the fact that it has skincare component to it, the oil from the serum evaporates relatively fast, leaving your skin feeling light and super comfortable at the same time, and feeling really luxurious too. Definitely a winner for us. Here for more and our previous review of the foundation here.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, 30ml (MYR165), pump sold separately at MYR20
Texture is quite similar to the Clé de Peau BEAUTÉ Radiant Fluid Foundation, this NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is a dreamer - glowing, naturally radiant finishing foundation, it is buildable and even outs the skin tone beautifully. What we also love about it is that it has anti-oxidant and skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula leaves the skin hydrated, softer and smoother to the touch. It is still one of our top favourite foundations thus far. Here for more.

To achieve that "glow" that we so love, we feel great foundation alone would not be complete. To do the trick, let us take this natural radiance look a notch up, shall we? What we would do is to also apply some of the primer/highligter sort of products to enhance that radiance to the face, to bring forth the "light" that gives off that "lit from within" kind of dreamy glow to the skin, which the Koreans are super famous for. So, let us introduce you to our top 2 picks to achieve this.

LUMI's TOP TWO PRIMER/HIGHLIGHTS FOR THAT ADDED GLOW
M.A.C Strobe Cream, 50ml (MYR137)
Trust us, this is one wonder product from M.A.C Cosmetics that you would love to have. It does not only awakens your dull-looking skin, it also works as a highlighter or an overall "pick me up" kind of skin product to enliven your face, in totality, giving you that ever so fresh looking face, yet, light is being reflected on you, off you, at all angles (in a super good way, though). It is loaded with potent botanical ingredients, anti-oxidants and powerful natural derivatives like green tea. Its iridescent particles work their magic in making sure that glow is what you will be getting. You can add a little amount with your favorite foundation to give the whole face that slight overall glow or you can choose to highlight parts of your face. It looks white in colour, with a little tinge of pink tone in it. Extremely easy to blend. Here for more.

Shu Uemura Stage Performer Glow Creator, Base & Top Glow Boosting Cream, 30ml (MYR153.70)
This is a lightweight cream that will bring out that glow within you to achieve that added freshness to the face. The shade we have here is Dazzling Glow, it is a slightly golden yellowish tint cream that glides on beautiful either as a base before foundation, or you can add on the cream on top of your foundation to highlight parts of your face for the reflected glow sort of feel, luminously beautiful, no matter which way you look. It does not overpower your foundation, but rather compliments it well to achieve a great balance in terms of giving the complexion that needed radiance, that is not short of looking natural. We definitely find this glow creator a great addition to the base routine for that "oh-just-right" kind of luminosity. More about it here.

We hope that you have enjoyed the feature we have put together and a huge thanks to all the brands for participating and supporting this special blog feature (new additions are the M.A.C Studio Waterweight, Strobe Cream and Shu Uemura Glow Creator). We hope you love a natural radiance makeup base look (plus a little extra glow *_^) as much as we do and have fun exploring. Mood board visuals via LUMI Pinterest Colour Me Beautiful here.

So, what are your go-to natural radiance base and that glow products that you can't live without? Feel free to let us know what works for you. Till our next special feature, have a luminously beautiful and happy week ahead, lovelies *_^

With love,
Jeann

    1. Oops sorry Shireen, that was the price before price adjustment, the latest price for the Cle De Peau Beaute one is now MYR411.28 (GST included)... yeah, on the high end, only if you have extra cash to splurge, am afraid.

Guess will have to finish those others first before you get your hands on Dior Nude Air... I believe it should be a permanent item *_^

  4. I have a ridiculous amount of love for radiance-base makeup and general 'dewy' looks - Margaret Zhang is the queen of that look over on her Instagram! All of the photography in this post is beautifully light and inspiring, I'd happily start using any and/or all of these in the hope of getting that radiant look! :) Have a wonderful weekend..

  6. Thank you for sharing the details with us. I would love to try the NARS foundation someday. Till I'm done with my few then I will. For heavier makeup, I would use a Burberry's foundation but on weekends, I try to keep it light but still some sort of coverage with Chanel CC Cream. It's my 3rd tube already in the running and I don't see myself stopping it till I find a replacement =D
