[Musing] Past // Present // Future // What Was Great in 2014 And What Do You Look Forward To In 2015?

This last day of 2014 makes us feel like walking down memory lane, but then again, you would have read all about our adventures and explorations, discoveries of new brands, new places and new friendships. 

You would have known that we have quite a nonchalant attitude towards beauty, be it skincare or makeup. We believe that a happy outlook towards life, and looking inwards towards fulfilling what makes us (and perhaps others) happy is as important as having a radiant and luminous look. Having said that, when you look beautifully luminous on the outside, it makes you feel much more confident from the inside, right? Easier said than done, the truth of the matter is, we are still learning to love ourselves more, each passing day, be it accepting our body image, or striving to be that close-to-perfect kind of blog that we envision LUMINNEJ to be. 

As the year is coming to an end, we hope to achieve different things in the coming year, like learn how to dance, perhaps? Yet would love to keep some of the old, like we don't foresee having long hair anytime soon (or for years to come!) or have our love for taking more pictures fading away. In fact, we hope to share more beauty with you lovelies, visually.

What were your happy moments in 2014 and what do you hope to achieve next year? We would love to hear all about them. Would also love to take this opportunity to say a big thanks for all our friends who read our blog, your continuous support (and lending us your ears and eyes *_^) means a great deal to us. A huge thanks to the brands who supported LUMINNEJ through the year, we look forward to more collaborations and hope you lovelies will come back next year for more lovely reads and sharing.

[Inspiration] All Saints Fall 2014 To Wind Down 2014

When we came across this blog post shared by our good NYC blogger friend from Allie NYC (check out her awesome chic blog here!), we just fell head over heels with this collection by All Saints. Though we have heard of the brand, but never really looked into it before this. Their Fall 2014 collection, to say the least, cool, is an understatement. It oozes a sense of downtown chic, so chic that we could imagine ourselves wearing all the pieces here *_^

We simply love the structured look, very streamlined, lean and long, with hues of black, neutral creams, white and soft grey as its main essence, punctuated with bold colours, very occasionally. Those heels and boots are to die for, don't you think? A little glam rock and roll feel to the collection,  so gorgeous yet very sensual in a understated manner. Oh gosh! Can we put them on already, please *_^

M.A.C Presents The Autumn/Winter 2014 Makeup Trends: Part 2 - ON REFLECTION and UNPROCESSED

In pursue of the previous two M.A.C makeup trends, Off Colour and Streamlined which we have shared, here are the two remaining ones. Equally captivating and an array of eye candy visuals stunningly showcasing the makeup styles and runway looks, we are totally in love with them. The two here are On Reflection and Unprocessed.

One captures the vibrancy of New York City glittering party-with-girlfriends-style approach while the other play up the fresh faced 60s, almost innocent young girl heading out for her first night out, both have their alluring factor and merits. Let's take a closer look at these two trends, shall we?

The Power of Red: The Launch of Shiseido Ultimune With Izara Aishah

Beautiful red flowers were the main theme of the decoration that Saturday afternoon at Pavilion KL, the colour RED reigned supreme as we were about to witness the launch of something pretty impressive coming from a beauty brand that has such long history (140 years to be exact!) - SHISEIDO. As always, we were enthralled by the carefully planned set-up of the concourse area by the lovely team of Shiseido Malaysia, and oh, thanks a million for having LUMINNEJ there for such a lovely event. We were at the Power of Red Tea Party for the launch of Shiseido's new skincare product, called Ultimune. 

Attendees like media, magazines, bloggers and the likes were pretty much happily occupied by the little fun things that one could do there - make-up touch up by the makeup artists, trying out lipstick shades from Shiseido's latest Perfect Rouge Lipstick, sealing your kiss on a contest card to stand a chance to win some prizes and catching up with some blogger friends, among other things. We were also told beforehand that Shiseido will be revealing its Ultimune brand Ambassador on that day, whom is a new up-and-coming local actress and entertainer, Miss Izara Aishah, who is more well-known in the local Malay drama scene. We actually managed to grab a few shots of her while she was doing an interview for a local TV station.

[Inspiration] Vintage Jewelry That Is Loren Hope

Accessory can brighten up the simplest look, making everything seems complete or refreshing, especially when it is done well. We have always had a thing for something a little vintage, perhaps it is what the best from the past that we can take away from and create something new and different for the future, be it fashion, art or even a piece of jewelry that intrigue us the most. 

We came across these lookbook by an American jewelry brand called Loren Hope recently and instantly fell in love with her specially designed pieces. Each is handcrafted from carefully selected materials, which usually include accents of Austrian rhinestone, semi-precious stones, beautiful Czech glass beads and cabochons, many of which are repurposed vintage stones no longer in production. The primary metals used are often brass with a high quality gold plate. It does sound precious and interesting already.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun With NARS' Audacious Lipsticks

Let's just admit it, no "real" woman can resist a good lipstick (well, at least not us). It traces all the way back to those ancient days when colour dyes were used to just give a woman's pout her precious stain (which was quite lethal, to be exact). Some were crushed from gemstones (to apply as part of the face decoration), others from beeswax and the legend of lipstick began and it evolved over time. Today, it is easily available in tubes and comes in all shapes, sizes and designs! A little something that most women today can't live without *_^

To us, makeup is something fun and lipstick is no exception. Isn't it what Cyndi Lauper was singing all about in the early 80s? Girls Just Want To Have Fun! Lipstick is fun, when you can have all the choices and shades that you can choose from. That brings us to our latest love from NARS. To celebrate their humble beginning of only 12 unforgettable lipsticks collection 20 years ago, NARS Audacious were introduced recently (check out the fun we had at their party here).

[Instagram] Lumi's Feature 3: Nectar and Stone

There is a saying, "Life is short, start with dessert". You would know by now that we have a really soft spot for desserts, especially beautifully crafted ones! Each time we browse through her feed, sweet dreams and fluffy soft spongy feeling filled us up, without fail. Her creation is not only a feast for the eyes, but also looks amazingly delicious and mouth watering at the same time, don't you think so?

[Musing] The Trail of Fatigue

Going away gave us much time to explore, at the same time, came back with a really tired mind and body, of the work that we have been doing.

Traveling on the train for eight and a half hours, with disrupted sleeps throughout the night, it didn't help... dragged our feet into our home, feeling as if our home furnitures are floating in the air, and our work place looks almost picture perfect, as if leaping out from a decor magazine. 

Head pounding a little, eyes burning, feeling almost on cloud nine, that feeling of floating on water,  wish that we could drift away, just like that, wanting to write yet eager to dive into our bed and hide underneath the blanket that feels (and tastes) almost like cotton candy to us now, at this hour (good to eat already?). 

Let's retire for the day, recharge and get back to it tomorrow then...

Dreaming of That Blue Christmas Party Looks

Instead of the ever-so-beautiful RED for this year's Christmas, our instinct kicks in and says, why not shades of BLUE? We are feeling this colour for this up-coming festive season. We have always had a special place for this shade.

Having both sides to our personality, like anything else, we have fun, and enjoy sliding into the other end of the spectrum, classic, with a touch of seriousness. If we are not busy washing plates after cooking (yes we do, like Cinderella before running away to her ball *_^), we will be daydreaming of putting the final touches to our look and make an entrance! Is it morning already? Or the clock has strike 12 midnight??! Oh dear, we have to run...

[Musing] What Makes You Happy?

On a Saturday like this, it always make us wonder, some of the little questions in life. Have you ever wondered, what makes you happy? Is there something in your life that truly fills your heart and makes you happy, always?

Here are some of the things that make us happy...

1. Enjoying our sleep all night long. No sleepless nights bugging us **we love our sleep**
2. Feeling the blessings in life though not everything is perfect, as there is no such thing as perfection in life anyway
3. A body and mind that is still much functioning, kicking and alive
4. Enjoying food without having to worry or count any calories
