Soft-Matte, soft-focus with a certain level of protection, this new NARS innovative face product is one that would make any modern busy woman want to reach out for more. We had the privilege to have a much closer look at the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint Broad Spectrum SPF30, PA+++ before it was launch as we were testing out and trying to put together a special feature blog post featuring face products that would give that luminous radiant glow look (here for more). Much to our surprise, this new one falls into a complete different category all together, therefore, we decided to review it on its own here much later. We also had the opportunity to attend its official launch recently and saw first hand, how this wonderful new addition to the NARS family performed impeccably on the model's face. We also had a quick sneak peek at NARS Spring Collection 2016 with all the gorgeous colours of spring *_^
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF30, PA+++
Comes in NARS' signature black tube, which is super cool and conveniently hygienic, this oil-free formula is one of a kind type of foundation that can be used alone, or on top of your primer. In fact, it is referred to as an alternative foundation as it will give you that natural-looking finish and shine control that is infused with skincare benefits like Rose Fruit Extract (refines the appearance of pores and controls shine), packed full with Vitamins C and E. It also offers broad spectrum SPF30 with PA+++. Awesome for tropical weather from where we are at *_^
That soft focus effect is achieved due to NARS' innovative Velvet Illusion Complex technology. Its Transparent Blurring Powders instantly enhance the look of skin by helping to blur imperfections and even out the skin tone - naturally dimensional skin that does not look flat, masked or chalky. Furthermore, the spherical shape of the Transparent Blurring Powders compress like cushion, giving the skin its much needed comfort upon application.

Our Experience
Squeeze a pea size from the tube, we spread this velvety textured foundation (almost a little mousse-like) using our finger tips. With light strokes, we start spreading it from the middle of our face and blend outwards, till it covers our face evenly. It glides on easily and blends effortless onto the skin, and finishes off with slight powdery effect. Velvety soft-matte, NARS called it. Very smooth indeed. It is sheer to medium coverage. Concealer can be added before or after the product, depending on the coverage you desire. We feel it evens out our skin tone well enough and only needed very little added concealer around the nose to cover some redness and our two stubborn dark spots. We do notice that one needs to prep the skin well, with enough moisture and hydration though, or it may feel a little dry.
For those who have flawless skin to begin with, it would be the perfect canvas and this Velvet Matte Skin Tint will be the perfect ONE foundation you will need to achieve that flawless semi-matte finish sort of look. For those like us, who needs some help in the department of blurring pores and imperfections, this one does do the trick well. Best of all, we love the fact that we don't need to powder our face anymore. It works best especially during weekends or time when we need just that little extra coverage to look naturally us. The shade we have is Groengland, Light 3 which fits us perfectly (Light medium with a neutral pink/peachy undertone). More shade selection here. This skin tint comes in 9 shades from the lightest ivory to the deepest mahogany. It lasted about 4 to 5 hours on our combination skin.

I was wise to skip this even though I know many bloggers are going gaga for it. I have dry skin so anything with matte and velvet finish is a huge no no for me.
