[Review] New Lunasol Control Base Summer 2015 And Modeling Liquid Finish Spring 2015

Lunasol has always been a Japanese makeup brand that advocates purifying makeup with the play of light and translucency. Recently, we had the chance to experience their private makeover session (previous blog post here) which was absolutely divine. So now, let us share a bit of our experience using Lunasol's base makeup products - the new Lunasol Control Base (from their latest 2015 summer collection) and the Lunasol Skin Modeling Liquid Finish (from their 2015 Spring collection).

Let's take a look, shall we?

Lunasol Control Base (EX03 Lucent Clear)
Limited edition, this lavender with a hint of red new addition CONTROL BASE to the Sheer Breeze Collection of 2015 Summer comes with an SPF24, PA++ protection. Housed in a simple yet sleek plastic pump bottle, it feels light and is easy to handle. When pumped, it dispenses a liquidy texture that colour-control our skin tone and evens out the complexion pretty well, leaving it looking fresh with a touch of translucency. Skin looks less dull and more healthy-looking (which is good *_^). It should be for the fact that the control base is enriched with Smooth Reflecting Polymer that softens pores and make them slightly less visible to the naked eyes.

The texture is not too rich and moisturizing, at times, can feel a tad on the dry side for us but nothing serious that can't be adjusted with a little extra moisturizer before applying this base. (we are comparing it with our usual RMK makeup base that we have been using, that feels a little more "creamier" than this Lunasol one). But what we love about this Lunasol one is that little bit of rosy hue that it gives, without the shine.

Lunasol Skin Modeling Liquid Finish
This new addition to Lunasol's Spring 2015 collection base makeup is quite a delight. To begin with, it contains as high as 55% water composition, so it is actually a water-based liquid foundation, with a light and watery texture which we love. For combination skin like ours, it finishes with a sheer coverage that is quite mattifying and veils our skin comfortably, making our skin looks refreshed and healthy, minus the shine. It comes in a slim glass bottle with a rose gold cap, and a pump dispenser which is super hygienic.

Our shade picked out by Japanese makeup artist Inokubo Satoru previously during our makeover was OC03 (Ocher shade range). It comes in 6 shades (Orche and Yellow Orche colour ranges) and has an SPF20 and PA++ One will need to layer on own sun protection before the foundation for better sun protection. It does not feel heavy on the skin at all. In fact, it dries up pretty quickly and fits to the skin well. If you want a more natural look, closer to the real you, but only better, this liquid finish would be an ideal choice to consider (if you do have the little extra budget). Check out how best to apply Lunasol's base makeup here, if you are curious *_^

Most definitely a nice combination when both products are used together. Lunasol special summer Control Base is retailed at MYR138 (6% GST included) for 30ml and Lunasol Skin Modeling Liquid Finish is at MYR196 for 25ml (6% GST included).

We can't wait to share more with you the rest of the new colour makeup products from Lunasol's up-and-coming 2015 Summer collection. Stay tuned for more updates!

Till then, have a beautifully luminous week and enjoy your long Labour Day and Wesak Day weekend holidays, lovelies *_^

  1. Thank you for such wonderful review. I've yet to try both RMK and Lunasol. My sister love RMK! Although, for Asian brands, I personally love Shu Uemura a lot =D They go well on my skin and the shades are just right. I might give Lunasol a try soon =)
Have a great weekend yourself babe =)

    1. yes, am sure we all have our own favourites when it comes to makeup and skincare. I personally do love RMK, especially their skincare. It's quite underrated, I feel. Lunasol is a new discovery. I think I may have a feeling that I will like some of their products as well.

I have yet to try Shu Uemura myself *_^ I guess the time will come.

      Big hugs,
      Jeann

  2. Oh this DOES sound divine, is it carried in The States? Haha but for me I would need green based makeup to offset all the ruddiness...which I hate lol!
