Burberry Prorsum Menswear SS16: Strait-Laced

Be bold, be masculine, be strait-laced with Burberry Prorsum Menswear this coming Spring/Summer 2016 season? Is that your thing, men out there? Now, how does one define a Burberry man? Is he the classic type that goes for the precisely cut jacket and pants? Or perhaps he is bold enough to embrace a little LACE (oh well, quite a bit actually in this collection) shirts and ties to soften that whole otherwise structured classic men's look? Perhaps a Burberry man is someone who aren't afraid to take that risk to look a little fashion forward yet has a place in his heart to truly appreciate British heritage, and most of all, from this collection, the artisanship behind such intricate craftsmanship of cotton laces weaving. We felt, once again, Christopher Bailey has succeeded in bringing such fresh work and help cement his philosophy of promoting local British and homegrown talents, which is something we have always admired about him as a designer. Just look at how he introduces new British singers songwriters, season after season *_^

This time around, we were entertained by a young British singer called Rhodes, who sang great songs, beautifully, accompanied by a big orchestra. That day was truly quite a sunny day. As always, a Burberry runway show is always graced by VIPs and celebrities. This time around, quite surprised to see even Samuel L Jackson there. Beautiful people, all ready for a great show by Burberry.

We must say we truly enjoyed the collection, the lace theme sort of gave the usual classic cuts of menswear that seemingly breath of fresh air, broke away from the formality, in a sensually poetic way that is hard for us to pinpoint but they somehow worked, subtly. Perhaps it brings out a little kind of hopeless romantic in us? Colour palette like black, navy, charcoal, pale grey, brown, white were punctuated with colourful bold pop of colours like red and mustard from cashmere scarves wrapped around the neck. Super gorgeous, we feel.

This time around, Christopher Bailey also introduced the The Chelsea, a tailored slim fit design in trench coats and suiting. A lace collar in a trench was quite a cool move, even on a wool chesterfield piece. Cut with dropped shoulders, the design has a sartorial silhouette. Inspired by antique cloth designs, the lace is woven at a specialist mill in Italy! If one took a closer look, one could even spot the little insect tiepins on some the ties worn by the models. Super wicked, we would say *_^

It is also a first that Burberry introduced and showcased its Spring/Summer 2016 Womenswear, sort of like a sneak peek during the menswear runway show. It is looking quite intriguing already. Hope we shall have the opportunity to live stream that show to you lovelies later!

Of course, how could we not mention the accessories, the bags, especially the eyewear, which we have come to love, each time we watch a Burberry runway show! Really cool indeed. Here are some of our favourite picks, shown here and you can discover more of the whole collection here. If you had missed the show, you can watch it again here. We do highly recommend you check out the highlight video above, one that we always love to watch after such a runway show for it showcases the best bits and parts of the event, as if, you were just right there, watching the show yourself *_^

Congrats to Burberry for yet another fantastic collection! We shall look forward to more great things from this British brand. All visuals via PR team and Burberry.

With love,
Jeann
